Katie Cochrane (She/Her) holds her MMus Theatre in Vocal Performance with an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy at New York University Steinhardt, as well as a BMus in Vocal Performance from Acadia University. Originally from the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Katie returned to Halifax from New York City in 2020.
Katie is currently the head of the voice department and co-program director of the musical theatre programs at Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts in Halifax, NS and teaches Vocal Pedagogy and Vocology at the FSPA at Dalhousie University. She sits on the board as the education advisor for the Canadian Atlantic Provinces NATS and is an advisor for their student chapter. She was recently the first recipient of the first Canadian Vocal Pedagogy award, which allowed her to attend the 58th NATS National Conference in Knoxville, TN in spring 2024. Katie strongly believes in mentoring the next generation of talented young singers, and is a regular clinician, performer and adjudicator in voice and musical theatre across Canada.
She has performed across the United States and Canada: recent credits include Carrie in Carousel (MCO), Broadway Brunch at the Carlton in Halifax, Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana (MCO), performances at Carnegie Hall with Essential Voices USA and the New York Pops (A Frank and Ella Christmas and The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein), and Mother Superior in Sister Act the Musical at The Frederick Loewe Theatre in NYC. Past credits include: Featured ensemble in On the Town in NYC's historic Provincetown Playhouse, Ado Annie in Oklahoma! (Opera NUOVA), Jenny in Company (MTOT), Ms. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music (HSOF), along with other performances at New World Stages, Skirball Center for the Performing Arts and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
