All selections in this category must be covers from commercial artists.
Competitors must perform a selection from any of the following genres: pop, pop/ folk, R & B, soul, rock, alternative, indie, jazz or country.
Piece Selections
a) Only one selection is required and must have been performed at the Local Festival, received a minimum mark of 85 and the recommendation of the local Adjudicator. The Adjudicator will take piece choice into consideration.
b) Selections from Conservatory Canada (CC) Contemporary Idioms lists and the Royal Conservatory of Music Popular Lists (RCM) are eligible.
General Rules
b) An original score of the music or purchased digital music with attached receipt showing title and price (not a cover page, Pro credit or subscription to a sharing website, eg. Scribd, Everand, Musescore) for the selection must be presented to the Registration desk for the Adjudicator's use on the day of competition.
c) Memorization is not required but is highly recommended.
d) No announcement of name or selection is required prior to your performance.
e) All competitors must be an amateur which shall be defined as any person whose principle means of livelihood is not obtained from the performance or teaching of music in the particular category in which they are competing, even though, from time to time, they may receive remuneration on an occasional basis (not full-time). f) All criteria listed in the OMFA General Rules (omfa.ca/live-festival/rules-and-regulations) must be strictly adhered to.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Competitors must perform one popular brass selection.
The maximum performance times are as follows:
Beginner Level (Ages 6-8): Eight (8) minutes
Primary Level (Ages 9-10): Eight (8) minutes
Elementary Level (Ages 11-12) Eight (8) minutes
Junior Level (Ages 13-14): Ten (10) minutes
Intermediate Level (Ages 15-16): Ten (10) minutes
Senior Level (Ages 17-18): Ten (10) minutes
Advanced Level (Ages 19-28): Ten (10) minutes
Adults (Ages 29 and Above): Ten (10) minutes
Accurate performance times must be included on the entry form. Do not guess timings.There is no minimum performance time.
If you do not provide all information required (i.e. the names of your pieces, movements, composer names and payment) by your Festival's Provincial deadline, it will result in disqualification. "To Be Decided" in any field will not be accepted and will also result in disqualification.
