Nicholas Deek

Nicholas Deek holds Bachelor's and Master's of Music degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Ottawa, as well as the highest mark in Canada on his Performer's ARCT Examination – 95%. He studied piano with Dr. Stéphane Lemelin, Andrew Tunis, Frédéric Lacroix, and James Kirby. His other piano teachers include David Jalbert, Judy Ginsburg, and Sandra Webster.

Nicholas has a very active performance schedule of over 100 performances a year. In addition to many solo recitals each year, he has been the featured soloist at numerous national, public, and private events across Canada, in the US and in the UK. Nicholas accompanied the Ewashko Singers' for the POPS shows From Paris to Broadway with maestro Jack Everly at the National Arts Centre. He was a quarterfinalist in the 5th Canadian Chopin Piano Competition and has won first prizes in Kiwanis Music Festivals. Nicholas has performed at the Orford Academy of Arts Music Festival in Orford, Québec, at the Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival in St. John's, Newfoundland and the Adamant Music Festival in Vermont, USA. Nicholas also studied piano at Royal Holloway, University of London, England. He has performed for internationally-recognized pianists in solo masterclasses, including Anton Nel, André Laplante, Jean-François Latour, Evelyne Brancart, Ursula Oppens, Jamie Parker, & Jean-Paul Sévilla.

Nicholas is the CEO of Deek Music Academy, a growing music school in Ottawa specializing in piano instruction. He enjoys keeping active with his wife & children.
