Yueying Li

Yueying Li

Chinese Instruments - Pipa

Yueying Li began her journey with the pipa at the age of four and a half, later earning admission to the prestigious Shenyang Conservatory of Music. She received rigorous training under several distinguished pipa virtuosos and educators, including Chun Zhe, Liu Gang, Li Lulu, and Li Guanghua. Throughout her formative years, she was also fortunate to receive mentorship and artistic inspiration from esteemed musicians across diverse disciplines, which enriched her musical sensibilities and broadened her interpretive depth.

During a decade of immersive study, she not only established herself as a compelling soloist, but also became an integral member of chamber ensembles, frequently representing the conservatory at prominent music festivals and cross-cultural exchange events both nationally and internationally. She was invited to participate in the recording of new works by contemporary composers and served as the principal pipa player in the conservatory’s Chinese orchestra, collaborating with renowned conductors and maestros in major concert productions. Her artistry and leadership on stage drew the attention and admiration of professionals in the music community.

Since relocating to Canada, she has continued to cultivate her artistry through collaborations with exceptional musicians and ensembles across the country, presenting concerts in various forms—solo, chamber, and orchestral. Her work reflects a deep commitment to fostering intercultural dialogue through music and promoting artistic expression as a source of healing, connection, and joy. Through both performance and pedagogy, she seeks to bridge traditions, inspire emerging artists, and create spaces where music becomes a shared human experience across cultures and generations.
