Justin DeLong (he/him) is a voice teacher and music director who is passionate about academic accessibility and the art of storytelling. He currently teaches contemporary voice and musical theatre courses for Ball State University. He holds a master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy with emphasis in Contemporary Commercial Music from Shenandoah University and is a trained vocalist in musical theatre, pop, rock, and other popular music genres. He specializes in contemporary, evidence-based vocal pedagogy and has also been trained in gender-affirming voice care for trans and non-binary individuals. In addition to his work as a teacher and director, he is active as a clinician, adjudicator, and presenter around the United States and internationally.

Justin has extensive experience as an accompanist and music copyist/transcriptionist and is a commissioned arranger. His arrangements have been performed in a wide variety of venues, including by Broadway stars Laura Benanti and Micaela Diamond at the famed cabaret restaurant 54 Below in New York City. He has also sung with multiple choirs, vocal jazz groups, and a cappella groups in addition to his theatrical performing experience.

As both director and music director, Justin has led productions of Next to Normal, tick, tick…BOOM!, and an original musical revue called The Human Heart and has directed Almost, Maine and the regional premiere of Chelsea Marcantel's The Upstairs Department. His favorite music directing credits outside of these include The Prom with Heidelberg University, Godspell with Hornet’s Nest Theatre, and Newsies with The Arlington Players, for which he received a Washington Area Theatre Community Honors award for Outstanding Musical Direction.
