
Minna Rose Chung is a distinguished Korean-American cellist and Professor of Cello at the Desautels Faculty of Music, University of Manitoba. She is internationally recognized for her ontributions to performance and pedagogy, most notably as co-author of the acclaimed CelloMind: Intonation and Technique, praised by Strings Magazine for its groundbreaking exploration of intonation and its impact on modern cello teaching.
Since 2008, Dr. Chung has led “Project Rio”, a collaborative initiative inspired by Rio Cello in Brazil, uniting Canadian and Brazilian artists through multi-media performances, performance classes, and workshop exchanges. Her pedagogical work continues with a newly published edition of The Ultimate Fun in Thumb Position in collaboration with author Hans J. Jensen.
An active performer, Dr. Chung appears regularly with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and the Canadian Chamber Ensemble. Over the summer months, she has been a guest artist and on faculty at leading festivals and institutions, including the Rushmore Music Festival, the Meadowmount School of Music, Rio Cello, the Heifetz Institute, and the Rosamunde Summer Music Academy
