
Mengmeng Zhang is a pianist, educator, collaborative artist, and music event organizer based in London, Ontario. She began studying piano at the age of four and has developed a professional career spanning solo performance, collaborative piano, piano pedagogy, competition coaching, and cultural music presentation.
Mengmeng received her formal musical training at the China Conservatory of Music, where she completed a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and master’s-level studies in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy. She later continued her graduate studies at Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music, earning a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano Performance. Her training in both solo and collaborative piano has given her a broad artistic foundation, with strong emphasis on technique, tone production, phrasing, stylistic understanding, ensemble sensitivity, and musical communication.
As a performer, Mengmeng has received awards in international piano competitions held in Asia and Europe, including First Prize in Asia at the World Peace Award of the American International Piano Competition in Macau and a Memorial Prize at the France Mérignac International Piano Competition. She has also performed extensively as a solo and collaborative pianist, including recital work, vocal and instrumental collaboration, and projects with Western University.
Mengmeng is an RCM Piano Advanced Specialist, an Elementary and Intermediate Specialist in Music Theory, and a member of ORMTA. With more than 18 years of piano teaching experience, she has guided students of various ages and levels through examinations, festivals, auditions, and competitions. Her students have achieved strong results in RCM examinations, local Canadian festivals, provincial competitions, and international competitions. Several students have earned first-place awards, and some have been invited to perform at winners’ recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York.
In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Mengmeng is the organizer of the annual Chinese Music on Western Instruments concert series in London, Ontario, promoting Chinese musical culture through Western classical instruments and performance formats.
