Pianist Vivian Lang Chen is based in Toronto, Canada, where she maintains a dynamic career as a performer, teacher, and collaborative pianist. An award-winning artist, she has received numerous prizes at national and international competitions and has performed extensively across Canada, the United States, Europe, and China. Recent highlights include receiving an Artist Prize at the 2023 Eppan Academy in Italy, winning Third Prize at the 2022 Prix Ravel of the Fondation Ravel in France, and making her U.S. solo recital debut at the Kennedy Center in 2021 after earning both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Washington International Piano Competition.

As a concerto soloist, Vivian has collaborated with ensembles including the Avanti Orchestra and Orchestra 914 in the United States, as well as the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony Orchestra, and Georgian Bay Symphony Orchestra in Canada.

Vivian holds a Master’s of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Christopher Harding, a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Lydia Wong as well as an Artist Diploma from Tel Aviv University where she studied with Arie Vardi. During her studies, she made her Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall in 2017 and won First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition (2015) and Bronze Prize at the Vancouver International Music Competition (2017).

Although classically trained, Vivian’s broad musical interests have led her to perform seamlessly across a wide range of genres, styles, and instrumental settings. In addition to being a pianist, she has also trained in singing, dancing and is a visual artist, bringing a multidimensional approach to her artistry. Her work is grounded in a commitment to authentic expression, technical excellence, and creating meaningful connections with audiences.
