Emily Chiang is a Toronto-based pianist and educator. Born in Taiwan, she made her debut  at the age of six and has since performed extensively as a recitalist, both locally in Toronto  and internationally. She has appeared as a guest soloist with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Lima Symphony Orchestra, and the Concordia College 
Symphony Orchestra.

A passionate chamber musician, Emily has performed at venues including the Winspear  Centre and the BanE Centre for Arts and Creativity. In 2012, she was a fellow at the Toronto  Summer Chamber Music Institute. She is also the co-founder of Duo Esprit, a piano duo with Megan Chang, with whom she has given performances and led workshops at 
colleges and high schools across Canada.

Equally committed to music education, Emily is a member of the piano faculty at the  University of Toronto. She has served as an adjudicator for the OYMI Music Festival and the  Kiwanis Music Festival and has recently presented a guest lecture and masterclasses at  Presbyterian College in South Carolina.

Emily holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she  studied with Alvin Chow. She earned her Master of Music degree at Indiana University  under the guidance of Menahem Pressler and Arnaldo Cohen. In 2013, she completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Toronto, studying with Marietta Orlov.
