Points to watch out for when registering in either the Live or Virtual Festival:
• You may change your repertoire at any time until 11:59 pm on May 20th. No changes will be accepted after this date.
• The photo release waiver must be agreed to by parents, competitors and teachers. If you do not agree to it then you will be unable to upload your videos.
• If your child does not have a teacher or if your teacher chooses not to set up a profile, then please put your local festival’s ID number in the teacher field. You will have to contact your local festival to see what their ID# is. Alternatively, a parent may register as both a parent and a teacher and then that ID number can be used in both fields.
• if you are registering and are over 18 and don’t have a teacher, please select the self-taught button.
Points only for Live Provincial Entries:
• You must list your accompanist. This means that the accompanist will also have to set up a profile in the registration system. All scheduling is done around accompanists, Failure to list your accompanist could result in them not being able to play for you. Accompanists must create a profile ID in the system. If your teacher is your accompanist, they must make sure that their profile says they are a teacher AND an accompanist.
• Accompaniment can be by piano only for the live festival with the exception of the Popular Voice and Popular Self-accompanied classes (please refer to the syllabi for specific rules). The accompanists listed on our website have confirmed that they are willing to play for you at the live provincial festival if required, however it is up to the competitor to contact them directly and pay for this arrangement and to set up a mutually convenient rehearsal time. To view our list of accompanists: https://omfa.ca/accompanists/
Points only for Virtual Provincial Entries:
• All performance videos for Virtual Festival Entries must be YouTube links. No other format will be accepted.
• If you see something that says “not video eligible”, it means that either parent, competitor or teacher has not completed the waiver.
• All required pieces must be combined into one YouTube video. Other links will not be accepted (eg. Google Doc, Dropbox, Vimeo).
• If you are entering multiple categories (i.e. Musical Theatre and Voice), you will need separate YouTube links for each category.
• The competitor is required to introduce themselves and their selections in the video, either verbally or with a title card before each piece.
• Competitors must show their original music/score prior to the beginning of their video submission.
• Videos used at local Festivals may be submitted if you choose. It is not necessary to re-record unless you wish to and only if time permits between your recommendation and your entry deadline.
• It is not necessary to list your accompanist or have your accompanist sign up for a profile. This information is not needed for the Virtual Festival.
• It is the competitor’s responsibility to abide by any and all government guidelines regarding physical distancing as of the date you submit your video. Accepted accompaniment can include: Live, pre-recorded, back-tracks, etc. Accompaniment can be by piano only. The accompanists listed on our website have confirmed that they are willing to record accompaniments for you to use for your performance. It is up to the competitor, however, to contact them directly and pay for this arrangement. To view our list of accompanists: https://omfa.ca/accompanists/
