Alyssa Michalsky
Harp
Alyssa Michalsky is a seasoned professional in the harp industry. Having started her company, Divine Harp in 1997, her accolades and awards span almost 20 years in the business and she continues to teach, perform and adjudicate all over Ontario.
A graduate of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Harp Performance program at the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Education from OISE, Alyssa had the privilege of studying with one of the world’s most renowned harpists, Judy Loman, for six years.
After winning the prestigious US National Harp Scholarship Competition in 2001, Ms. Michalsky went on to record four CD’s: two classical harp and flute albums and two contemporary solo harp albums on her Lyon and Healy Concert Grand Electric Harp.
As well as holding the head harp examiner for The Royal Conservatory of Canada and harp instructor for the University of Western Ontario, Ms Michalsky has been on the panel for the Toronto Chapter of the American Harp Society competition and adjudicated harp for the London, Guelph, and Ottawa and provincial Kiwanis Festivals.
Ms Michalsky houses a new large private music studio in Dundas where she has a full schedule of young as well as mature students. She is also well known for being one of the most active performing modern harpists providing electric harp entertainment to clients all over Ontario, blending classical sounds and techniques with her uniquely stylized arrangements of contemporary music. Alyssa continues to make her new home into the music studio of her dreams and hopes to have decades more of students growing up with her to come.
