Karla Dawe’s career includes a broad range of experience as a music educator, adjudicator, examiner and performer. She holds B.Music (Honours) in Music Education and M.Music (Solo, Performance and Literature) degrees from Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music.
She has taught music in public schools in Newfoundland and New Brunswick, at Crandall University (Moncton), Laurentian University, and from 2007-2018 was an instructor in the Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba.
She has served as organist and music director St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Sackville, NB and First Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg.
Karla has a keen interest in piano pedagogy and has operated a private studio for over three decades. She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities and witnessing their personal and artistic growth. In addition to her private teaching activities, Karla is a frequent adjudicator at music festivals, and has served as a piano examiner.
